An art full journey

Mariette Chappuis is an artist born in 1954 in Lausanne. She graduated from the Ecole des Arts Appliqués in Vevey in 1975. She has been creating artwork from her private studio since 1996 and has participated to more than 30 solo or collective exhibitions.
From copperplate engraving in the 90’s to the mixed techniques she developed in the years 2000’s, Mariette has steadily affirmed her interest in experimentation with a wide variety of materials. Fascinated by collage, she will select paper of widely varying kinds and origins, even going to the trouble of making her own, to eventually include her work, featuring acrylic and chalk along with collages. In more recent times, Mariette also engaged into the discovery of a new world, which becomes her inner world as much as it surrounds her. It is a colorful world whose entry key is patience, meticulousness and some kind of surrender to the elapsing time, to thoughts that roam and to emerging ideas. She feels a relentless need to take refuge in her inner world and that happens by means of a magnifying glass and of simple pencils and Indian inks. From the entanglement of countless tiny shapes arise colorful rythms and waves of an amazing diversity. Welcome to a short journey through samples of her multicolored and vibrant land of fragments, here on Mariette’s Portfolio page.
